In-Vitro Anti-Inflammatory and Hepatoprotective Activity of Turmesac®

Published in the International Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, this study evaluated Turmesac® in HepG2 human liver cells and RAW 264.7 macrophages. At the selected concentration of 50 µg/ml, Turmesac® reduced intracellular oxidative-stress signals and suppressed the expression of the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-8 and IL-12 in the study models.

In-Vivo Anti-Inflammatory Activity in Experimental Models

Published in the European Journal of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the study evaluated Turmesac® at 250 and 500 mg/kg in croton-oil-induced ear edema and histamine-induced paw edema models. The researchers reported dose-dependent anti-inflammatory activity, including 58.65% edema inhibition at two hours in the high-dose croton-oil model.

Anticancer Properties Evaluated in Human Cervical Adenocarcinoma Cells

A study published in the Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical and Clinical Research evaluated Turmesac® in HeLa cells. The reported IC50 was 115.12 µg/ml, with apoptosis induction and changes in cell-cycle distribution observed under the experimental conditions. The authors stated that additional research would be required before clinical application could be considered.

Hepatoprotective Activity in Paracetamol-Induced Liver Toxicity

This in-vivo study assessed Turmesac® at 250 and 500 mg/kg in a paracetamol-induced hepatotoxicity model. The researchers reported improvements in liver-related biochemical markers, antioxidant enzymes and liver-tissue architecture compared with the toxic-control group.

Antioxidant, Hepatoprotective and Cytotoxic Properties Evaluated

Published in the Journal of Medicinal Plants Research, this study examined Turmesac® using HUH-7 human liver cells, MCF-7 breast cancer cells and a DPPH antioxidant assay. The findings included dose-dependent protection against hydrogen-peroxide-induced stress and measurable free-radical-scavenging activity.
