What is Turmesac®?
Turmesac® is a novel, synergistic phytochemical composition derived from the rhizome of turmeric, Curcuma longa. Unlike products based only on isolated curcumin, Turmesac® is designed to retain a broader spectrum of turmeric-derived bioactive compounds working together within a natural phytochemical matrix. It has been researched for anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and liver-health applications, with additional preclinical research examining its activity in selected cancer cell lines.
What is Turmesac® standardized to?
Turmesac® is manufactured to a defined composition of 95% spray-dried turmeric water extract, 3% ethanolic curcuminoid extract and 2% turmeric oil. Batch-specific analytical values are provided on the Certificate of Analysis.
What are the principal bioactives in Turmesac®?
The Turmesac® matrix includes water-extractable turmeric constituents, curcuminoids and turmeric oil components. Key constituents include turmeric polysaccharides (turmerosaccharides), curcumin and related curcuminoids, and volatile-oil constituents such as turmerones. Marker values are available in the current product specification.
How is Turmesac® different from a generic curcumin extract?
Generic curcumin ingredients often focus primarily on an isolated curcuminoid fraction. Turmesac® is a broader phytochemical matrix that combines turmeric water extract, curcuminoids and turmeric oil. Its research base includes 12 preclinical investigations and six international publications covering bioavailability, inflammation, oxidative stress, liver protection and cytotoxicity models.
Is Turmesac® more bioavailable than isolated curcumin?
Bioavailability research on Turmesac® showed detectable absorption of both curcuminoid and polysaccharide fractions, with concentrations remaining measurable for up to 24 hours. This profile is associated with greater absorption and longer systemic retention than isolated curcumin and other turmerosaccharide preparations.
