Introduction

What is Turmesac®?

Discover the Turmesac® Difference →

Turmesac® is a novel, synergistic phytochemical composition made from turmeric rhizome, Curcuma longa. Unlike conventional turmeric ingredients that focus primarily on isolated curcumin, Turmesac® retains a broader matrix of water-extractable turmeric phytochemicals, curcuminoids and naturally occurring turmeric oil.

This full-spectrum approach is designed to allow multiple turmeric-derived constituents to work together. Turmesac® has been investigated in preclinical models for inflammatory response, antioxidant protection, hepatoprotective activity, bioavailability and cellular health. It is designed for manufacturers developing dietary supplements, functional beverages and wellness foods.

The Turmesac® Phytochemical Matrix

Turmeric Polysaccharides

01

Water-extractable phytochemicals

Contribute to the full-spectrum turmeric matrix and have been investigated for antioxidant and free-radical-scavenging properties.

Curcumin

02

Curcuminoid polyphenol

The principal turmeric curcuminoid, widely studied for its interaction with oxidative and inflammatory pathways.

Demethoxycurcumin

03

Curcuminoid

A naturally co-occurring turmeric compound that complements the broader curcuminoid spectrum.

Bisdemethoxycurcumin

04

Curcuminoid

Supports the complete curcuminoid profile rather than relying on a single isolated molecule.

Turmeric Oil and Turmerones

05

Volatile phytochemicals

Provides lipophilic turmeric constituents, including alpha-turmerone and beta-turmerone, within the full-spectrum composition.

The research literature describes turmeric rhizome as containing curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, bisdemethoxycurcumin, dihydrocurcumin and volatile oils that include alpha-turmerone, beta-turmerone and monoterpenes.

Preclinical Findings

Preclinically Investigated Benefits

58.65%Ear edema inhibition at 500 mg/kg, 2 hours
50.49 → 19.63IL-8 fluorescence intensity
68.94 → 15.79IL-12 fluorescence intensity
52.5 → 14.43Intracellular ROS in HepG2 cells

Supports a Healthy Inflammatory Response

Turmesac® significantly reduced edema in croton oil and histamine-induced animal models. At 500 mg/kg, inhibition of croton oil-induced ear edema reached 58.65% at two hours and 57.25% at four hours.

Helps Regulate Inflammatory Cytokine Expression

In LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages, Turmesac® reduced the measured fluorescence intensity of IL-8 from 50.49 to 19.63 and IL-12 from 68.94 to 15.79.

Promotes Antioxidant Protection

Turmesac® demonstrated DPPH free-radical-scavenging activity and reduced oxidative stress markers in hydrogen peroxide-stressed liver cell models.

Supports Liver Cell Protection

In H₂O₂-stressed HepG2 cells, incubation with 50 µg/ml Turmesac® reduced mean intracellular ROS fluorescence from 52.5 to 14.43.

Supports Healthy Liver Architecture in Preclinical Models

In a paracetamol-induced liver toxicity model, Turmesac® reduced elevated SGOT, SGPT and bilirubin while improving antioxidant enzyme levels and liver histology.

Investigated for Cellular Health

Turmesac® produced concentration-dependent cytotoxicity in HeLa cervical adenocarcinoma cells, with an IC₅₀ of 115.12 µg/ml. At this concentration, the study reported apoptosis and cell-cycle effects. These findings remain preclinical and require human validation.

Preclinical Proof Highlight

Dose-Dependent Anti-Inflammatory Activity

In an in-vivo study, Turmesac® was evaluated at 250 and 500 mg/kg in croton oil-induced ear edema and histamine-induced paw edema models. The 500 mg/kg dose produced 58.65% inhibition of ear edema at two hours and 57.25% inhibition at four hours. Significant reductions were also observed in the histamine-induced paw edema model.
